A very pleasant, sedate community, or so it seems. This is
certainly the atmosphere but there is a lot going in
Burnsville, — it just isn't obvious to the visitor. And real
estate bargains abound, — not only in Burnsville area but
throughout Yancey County. Burnsville straddles US-19-E which
gives folks here excellent access to Asheville. The Cane
River, which meanders all over Yancey county on its
rendezvous with the North Toe River, is also a valuable
attraction. And, as an additional benefit, the South Toe
River is just a few miles to the east (it flows through
Micaville). See

Green
Mountain - northeast; on NC-197
Green Mountain is on the North Toe River just downstream
from the big bend. NC-197 is its umbilical cord connecting
Green Mountain to Burnsville and US-19-E. Legally, 'Green
Mountain' is in Yancey County but it seems that most of the
town, and the rail road, is on the other side of the North
Toe River which puts the town in Mitchell County. No
problem, our real estate agents work both counties and, as
they are home-grown, they know the area. See
