  • Jackson County Airport
      
    The Jackson County Airport is about 25 miles south of Cherokee and another 15 miles from Bryson City. This general aviation facility is operated by the county and has a paved 3000x50 foot runway. Perched on a ridge near Little Savannah Rd and NC-107 about 3 miles southeast of Sylva (about 1 mile west of Cullowhee), it does have runway lights and a beacon but no control tower.

  • Asheville Regional Airport (AVL)
       Nearest commercial aviation facility, the Asheville Regional Airport is almost 65 miles from Cherokee (about a 80 minute drive) and about 80 miles from Bryson City (about a 95 minute drive). Situated on the Buncombe-Henderson County boundary, this full-service commercial airport is at exit 40 of Interstate 26.

    • Cherokee is about 35 miles from exit 27 of I-40 (near Waynesville). I-40 connects I-15 in southern California with Wilmington NC. Entering North Carolina at the Pigeon River Gorge, it connects Haywood County with Buncombe and McDowell Counties continuing through Greensboro, Raleigh and terminating at the Atlantic Ocean at Wilmington NC.
