In July, 2004, the Old Edwards Inn and Spa,
a historic property on the corner of Main and Fourth streets
in Highlands, NC, emerged from an extensive two-year long
renovation, restoration and expansion to welcome guests to a
luxury destination spa resort. After more than 40M, the
project boasts a complete renovation to the historic Inn and
restaurant as well as the addition of a world class European
influenced Spa. Listed on the National Register of Historic
Places, the Inn first operated as Central House, a
restaurant and boarding house beginning in 1878. A
three-story addition was completed in 1935. The Old Edwards
Hospitality Group, LLC acquired the property in 2001 and
began the restoration and expansion. The resort includes the
Inn, Spa, Madison?s Restaurant and Wine Garden, and The
Farm, a special events and meeting facility located one mile
from downtown Highlands. The Shops at Old Edwards Inn
include Acorns, an upscale antique and home accessories
boutique and Miss Priss a Lilly Pulitzer Signature Shop. In
2005, further expansion of the downtown property will
introduce an executive board room and conference space just
across Fourth Street from the Inn as well as a fitness
center and lap pool. 15000 square feet will also be added to
The Spa encompassing a men?s and women?s locker room, Swiss
showers, steam rooms, sauna, solarium, spa terrace,
