Haywood County
Waterfalls

Note: Waterfalls are dangerous. We have many accitents every year where people have fallen, frequently to their deaths, because they ventured to close to the edge or, worse, attempted to climb them. Please be careful so you - and your family - can enjoy your stay and have many pleasant memories in the years to come.

Blue Ridge Parkway
  • Yellowstone Falls (Milepost 418.8)
At milepost 418.8 of the Blue Ridge Parkway is an area known as Graveyard Fields. A black-top trail descends to the East Fork of the Pigeon River, crosses on a sturdy wood footbridge from which you can go downstream (to the right) to Lower Falls. Or, go upstream (about a 1.5 mile walk) to the Upper Falls.
The main waterfall, Yellowstone Falls, is really best viewed from the scenic overlook just before the Graveyard Fields parking lot. Trying to access it by foot is very difficult and dangerous.
