  • Andrews - northeast; on US-19/74
Come to Andrews and relax in this serene, green valley. Here you are in between the very popular Lake Hiwassee to the southwest and the Snowbirds Mountains (part of the Great Smoky Mountains chain) to the north. Mountain real estate is very available and, though not cheap, the prices are very reasonable. You'll find scanning the real estate listings very illuminating. Just contact one of the lpcal real estate agents (you'll find a list at NCMLF.com) and they'll introduce you.

  • Culberson - south; on NC-60

  • Hiwassee Village - northwest of Murphy; on NC-1314 (Hiwassee Dam Access Rd)

  • Liberty - west; on NC-294

  • Marble - northeast
Frequently overlooked, Marble is between Murphy and Andrews. It shares the Andrews-Murphy Airport with Andrews and even has a street named Airport Road. Marble also has the Valley River, Hyatt Creek and Welch Mill Creek, all popular for waterfront property buyers. The town may be tiny but this is considered an advantage to the hundreds of families living just outside the town enjoying this mild, green valley surrounded by majestic mountains.

  • Murphy - junction of US-19/74 and NC 141
Western gateway to Western North Carolina... Murphy is gateway to a lot of things, Hiwassee Lake to the east, the rugged mountains and Nantahala Gorge to the north, hundreds of semi-secluded summer abodes in Cherokee County. Murphy, though a tad smaller in population (at least at the last count) than Andrews, appears to be not only the County Seat of Cherokee County but its economic center. With its nearly four dozen realtors and other real estate agents, it is obvious that here is where the real estate deals are made. (See list of real estate agencies at NCMLF.com) Waterfront property, as usual, is at a premium but available. Waterfront homes are found not only around the lake but along the Valley River, Nottely River, Hiwassee River and the many of the many other tributaries. Not just vacationers flock here; folks come here to live year-round but, mostly, outside the borders of the town.

  • Topton - northeast; on US-19/74

  • Unaka - north of Hiwassee Lake (and Murphy) on Joe Brown Hwy (NC-1326).
