Boat Ramps
-
Apalachia Boat Ramp
From the intersection of
US-64/74 with NC-294 (about 8 miles west of Murphy), take NC-294 for 8½
miles. Turn right on Road 1314 (also signed as " Hiwassee Dam Access
Rd"). Follow this road for about 4½ miles and turn left onto Powerhouse
Road. Follow this road about a half mile, around the bend, and you'll
see the ramp on your left.
NOTE: the following
three ramps are all on Lake Hiwassee within a mile of each other.
-
Hanging Dog Creek Boat Ramp
In Murphy at intersection
of US-19 Bus (Hiwassee St) and Tennessee St., head north on Tennessee
St. Soon after you round the bend and cross the river Tennessee Street
become Joe Brown Hwy (Road 1326). Continue on this, crossing Hanging Dog
Creek to Road 1447 (it will be on your left not quite a half mile after
crossing Hanging Dog Creek). Turn left onto this road and follow
it to the end and the ramp.
-
Grape
Creek Boat Ramp
In Murphy at intersection
of US-19 Bus (Hiwassee St) and Tennessee St., head north on Tennessee
St. Soon after you round the bend and cross the river Tennessee Street
become Joe Brown Hwy (Road 1326). Continue on this, crossing Hanging Dog
Creek to the Grape Creek access ramp (on your left). About 8 miles from
US-19 Bus.
-
Ramsey Bluff Boat Ramp
In Murphy at intersection
of US-19 Bus (Hiwassee St) and Tennessee St., head north on Tennessee
St. Soon after you round the bend and cross the river Tennessee Street
become Joe Brown Hwy (Road 1326). Continue on this, crossing Hanging Dog
Creek to Road 1447 (it will be on your left not quite a half mile after
crossing Hanging Dog Creek). Turn left onto this road and follow
it for about a mile to the intersection (on your left). I believe this
unimproved road is signed simply "Ramsey Bluff". About a hundred yards
in you will encounter another intersection which is the same road coming
back at you (it is a loop). I prefer staying to the right. You
will easily see the ramp.
